With her unique brand of hushed, other-worldly folk pop, Sheena Tang is one of themost anticipated up-and-coming singer-songwriters of China today. Her virtuosity in guitar and her solid musicianship break many stereotypes of female singers, as she was trained classically in various Chinese and Western instruments. Most importantly, the soothing and ethereal quality of her voice is what truly separates her from the pack, garnering praise and support from both the “Godfathers of Pop Music” of Mainland China and Taiwan, Zhang Ya Dong and Li Zhong Sheng. In addition to music, Sheena’s study of Chinese herbal medicine, acupuncture, and drawing, are all important facets of her unique persona. Her debut album is scheduled to be released this fall.
